Amanda is a Sydney-based renovation survivor who talked for years about writing a book. It took an epic disaster to prompt her to finally do it, and in 2009 Penguin published The Renovator’s Survival Guide.
Forced to fire her builder part way through the job, Amanda promised herself she’d finish the house, sue the builder and write a book about the experience - no matter how much she just wanted to forget it all once she reached the end. She was determined not to let the builder get off scot-free, and determined to help other people avoid the same mistakes. The Renovator’s Survival Guide is for every DIFM-renovator who wants to avoid renovation roulette!
Amanda was featured extensively in the media following the launch of her book, and a number of those appearances are below. You can also check out what Amanda has to say about writing and marketing her book in this Sydney Writers’ Centre podcast.
